Manuel Cohen’s photographies of Dougga in Tunisia

It’s been five years I have been visiting Dougga, the antique punic and later roman city who’s ancient name Thugga derives from the numidian word tukka meaning « steep roc ». Dougga was built in the 2nd century A.D. and lies in the roman province of Africa Proconsularis, a territory covered today mostly by Tunisia and a small part of Eastern Algeria. I still remember the view from the roman Capitol over the beautiful landscape, where the green coat of spring was starting to cover the fields. Here are some beautiful photographs of Dougga by french photographer Manuel Cohen.
